took an awkward bounce in front of the keeper and ended up in the net. It was Crawford’s first goal for the Inveraray senior side and it came at a good time.

To their credit, Inverness upped their game and went in search of an equaliser. They got their reward on 76 minutes when Inveraray keeper Scott MacLachlan brought down the onrushing James Cameron and referee Archie Ritchie pointed to the spot. Inveraray claimed the infringement was just outside the ‘D’ but the referee was in no doubt. Inverness veteran Dougie Rankin, who had a fine game throughout, hit a powerful penalty, low into the corner of the goal, giving the keeper no chance.

Inverness had James MacKenzie red-carded five minutes from time and a draw looked the likely outcome until the fourth minute of stoppage time. The goal came from a disputed freehit and the ball broke kindly for Lewis Montgomery who rifled a shot home from the edge of the ‘D’ to give Inveraray the win.

Inverness will be hugely disappointed not to have taken anything from the game but Inveraray deserve credit for claiming the win with so many regulars out.

Kingussie 2 Newtonmore 5

The reserve team derby between Kingussie and Newtonmore at The Dell was brought forward to 11.30am to allow local supporters the chance to attend this game and the senior match later in the afternoon.

Russell Menzies and Dylan Borthwick came into the Kingussie side which lost to the Skye reserves a week earlier.

Newtonmore had Iain Richardson at full back with Iain Robinson in attack but there was no Chris Sellar who got a hat-trick in the win over the Glenurquhart seconds a week earlier.

Newtonmore’s Calum Stewart opened the scoring and he could have had a couple more, hitting good opportunities over the top.

Kingussie fought back and scored twice within a couple of minutes through Chris Hollysong and Dylan Borthwick to take a 2-1 lead, perhaps against the run of play.

Newtonmore got back on level terms before half-time with Neil Stewart scoring a long-range screamer.

Craig MacLeod, Somhairle Thomson and David Fraser all scored for Newtonmore in the second half to seal a deserved win.

Owen Fraser bossed the midfield for Newtonmore, whilst Scott Chisholm also played well.

Aberdeen University 0 Skye Camanachd 4

The Skye Camanachd reserves leap-frog Aberdeen University to go second in the table following their impressive 4-0 victory over the students at Balgownie.

Skye created several chances before Martin Pringle gave them the lead on 27 minutes with a superb low shot from outside the ‘D’.

Ross Gordon added a second on 36 minutes after some good Skye pressing. Chris Rose, back in the side after a three-year absence, came off the bench to make it 3-0 three minutes into the second half when he drilled a low shot into the net after Aberdeen keeper Willie Hunter had made a save.

Skye introduced Marcus Scott, making a return to shinty after a 20 year absence, and he almost grabbed a debut goal but his long range effort went just over the bar.

The Skye forwards combined to set up Ross Gordon for his second goal of the afternoon on 60 minutes.

It wasn’t Aberdeen’s day and former Skye player Jamie Beaton had a chance to pull a goal back when he got free in the box. But Murphy Henderson, in goal for Skye in place of Ryan Morrison who was with the first team, saved with his hand before clearing the danger.

Skye deserved the win. Brothers John Angus MacInnes and David MacInnes ran the midfield along with the tireless Ian MacPherson.

Glengarry 3 Fort William 1

Glengarry go third in the league after they beat the Fort William colts 3-1 at Craigard.

Raymond Robertson scored after 10 and 16 minutes to give Glengarry an early advantage.

Fort William, who were without the suspended David Wright, pulled a goal back through Greg Kelly a minute into the second half.

When referee Ronnie Campbell awarded Glengarry a penalty on 65 minutes, Raymond Robertson took responsibility to complete his hat-trick, giving Glengarry two wins from two games.

Glenurquhart 0 Kinlochshiel 2

The Glenurquhart reserves and the Kinlochshiel reserves were both after their first points of the season when they met in a noon throw-up at Blairbeg.

And it was the visitors took both points.

Young Finlay MacRae gave Kinlochshiel the lead on 10 minutes and, when referee Steven MacLachlan awarded the Kirkton side a penalty a couple of minutes into the second half after Duncan Matheson had been brought down inside the box, Ally Nixon stepped up to score. who
