Days gone by – 1920s

-

Peter White from Sunderland sent us this photograph of a Crossley car built between 1920-22/23 and registered in County Durham, England. It was a model 19.6, with a top speed of 60mph and it did 20 miles to the gallon. Mr White said: ‘Crossley made the chassis and engines and front assembly, while the cabins were to the customer’s requirements. The 1924 Crossley tourer is the same with an open convertible top. The photograph shows the car loaded on a single rotating deck car ferry about to land on a jetty, but I’m not sure where the jetty is? Glenelg to Skye comes to mind, but I’d love to know for sure.’ Can any of our readers help him? Let us know.
