Creative siblings combine to create second poetry book
AN OBAN poet has teamed up with his artist sister to create a poetry book featuring original artwork.
Jamie Livingstone’s second poetry book, The Manhole Cover, consists of 14 pieces of poetry, each accompanied by a bespoke painting by Eilidh Livingstone.
Jamie’s book delves deep into the human mind and, he explains, only ‘by going into “the sewage”, can you get out of it’.
The poet released his first book in October 2016, which also featured paintings from his sister Eilidh.
Speaking about creating the bespoke work, she said: ‘[Jamie] gives me a wee brief and I do what I think will work.’
Jamie is in the process of turning his books into an EP, using atmospheric background music.
Jamie and Eilidh both have a connection with Oban charity Hope Kitchen.
Every Tuesday from 2.30pm to 4pm, Jamie runs a writing group, Wurdplay, out of the premises, while Eilidh has her artwork and photography on display.
Wurdplay also hosts a performance night and is in the process of producing a stage play.
The book, which was produced at Templar Arts and Leisure Centre (TALC), Tarbert, is on sale for £10 and can be purchased from www.wurdplay. org, where there is also more information regarding the various projects.
