Days gone by – 1963

This week we turn the clock back to a photograph from our archives that only has a brief caption which reads: ‘North Connel Guides at Ardchattan Priory.’ Can you put any names to the faces here?

Our picture of heavy athletes at Taynuilt games in 1983, published on April 26, prompted a couple of replies. David Horne wrote: ‘I can name four of them. Jock McColl, Tommy MacGeachan, Pat Cadzow and Brian Robin.’ And Mick Linton, from Selkirk, emailed to say: ‘I am number 151. I was camping at Tralee Bay with my family and some friends And we went to the games and joined in as my friend Jack Knox and my son Allan were professional runners at the time. I entered the heavyweights but don’t think I came anywhere though. We have since returned to Oban on a regular basis. My wife and I have just returned from a week at Ledaig with our motorhome. Thanks for the memories.’
