View from the Chamber

JOINING your local Chamber of Commerce is a great way to make business connections and develop your business.

As a new member, you have the opportunity to hold a business showcase event that lets you introduce what you do to your fellow members and meet new contacts.

Last week Carol-Ann Adams from Interface and Nigel Patterson, the newly appointed business development manager from West Highland College, had the chance to introduce themselves and their services at a chamber business showcase lunch.

Interface makes it easy for businesses of all sizes across all sectors to research and develop new ideas by matching them up with the most suitable academic expertise.

As we all know, busy business owners don’t always have the time, resources and expertise to research ideas themselves. This is where Interface can help. It meets the business, puts together a proposal and then put this out to tender across its academic network.

Proposals could be anything from a B&B owner wanting to find the most profitable way to extend their business to an international manufacturer looking to test new products.

Interface is a free, impartial service that has helped hundreds of organisations to become more competitive and increase their profits.

If you’re in business and you have an idea but you need more research, it’s well worth getting in touch with Carol-Ann at Interface on 01463 245262.

Nigel also gave us an informal overview of the skills and staff development training that West Highland College can provide – from first-aid courses to Twitter, the college aims to assist businesses with the targeted training they need.

If you would like to find out more about the college can help you, call Nigel on 01397 874 241. Join Lochaber Chamber of Commerce and take the opportunity to promote what you do and increase your business network. Call us on 01397 705 765 or visit www. lochaberchamber.co.uk.
