New sight loss group for Skye

-

A LEADING sight-loss charity is calling for people living in and around Skye and Lochalsh who have visual impairments to get in touch about a new peer support group it is planning to launch.

The Macular Society is proposing to set up a support group, offering information, encouragement and friendship to people living locally who are affected by macular disease and other sight-loss conditions.

The charity is appealing to anyone who would be interested in attending the group to get in contact and register their interest.

It is also keen to hear from any volunteers who would be happy to help organise and run the group’s meetings, and assist with general tasks such as booking guest speakers and sending out mailings.

Depending on the level of interest shown, it is hoped that the group will meet once a month, beginning in late June, at the Broadford Hotel.

For more information on macular degeneration, call the Macular Society’s helpline on 0300 3030 111 or email help@ macularsociety.org
