Sunart

MOTORBIKE enthusiasts from as far afield as Thurso in the north and London in the south converged in Strontian recently for the inaugural Sunart Wildcat Rally, which included a ride-out to the most westerly point on the UK mainland.

Following their visit to Ardnamurchan Lighthouse on the afternoon of Saturday April 28, more than 50 bikers held a barbecue, raffle and auction, raising £1,700 for Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCCA) which relies entirely on donations from the public.

Rally organisers Mike Taylor from East Lothian, who runs Passing Places Tours, and Tim Coldwell, who owns the Sunart Camping site in Strontian, explained the charity was close to the heart of motorcyclists as many had benefited from the SCCA’s life-saving flights.

Mike said: ‘This event has been fantastic. We thank everyone who attended, those who donated prizes for the raffle and auction, and the Winton Massif for helping to organise the rally. We’ll definitely be holding the event again next year.’
