WHAT’S ON in Lochaber
❚ West Highland Museum in Cameron Square, Fort William, is holding its AGM tonight (Thursday May 31) at 5pm. Please contact museum manager Colleen Barker at colleen@westhighlandmuseum.org.uk if you would like a copy of the agenda.
❚ To mark this year’s Dementia Awareness Week Scotland, which runs from June 4-10, Ballachulish and surrounding communities at Kinlochleven, Glencoe, Onich and Duror will be holding a ‘Cuppa & Cupcake’ fundraiser to coincide with the event on June 8 in Ballachulish Hall, from 12-4.30pm.
There will be a raffle, tombola, musical entertainment and a competition to judge the best artistic cupcake from all the surrounding schools and nurseries, which will be judged by the Highland Cupcake Company.
The event is being held in conjunction with Ballachulish Medical Centre’s Patient Participation Group and Abbeyfield, which also participated last year and will be hosting its own ‘Cuppa and Cupcake’ morning with all money raised being added to the sum raised at the event in the hall and donated to Alzheimer Research Scotland.
Team ‘Cupcake’ would be grateful for any donations for its tombola and raffle, and cupcakes or any other baking would be much appreciated.
❚ Staff and volunteers from Lochaber Sensory Care (LSC) for sight and hearing support will visit Mallaig Medical Centre between 1.30-3pm, on Tuesday, June 5. LSC representatives will offer support and advice to those with a sight or hearing loss and will also retube and maintain hearing aids, including supplying NHS batteries if needed. No appointment necessary.
❚ Glenfinnan Community Council will hold its annual general meeting on Sunday June 10, at 3pm, in Glenfinnan House Hotel.
