View from the Chamber

-

AT LOCHABER Chamber of Commerce, our focus is always on helping our members to achieve their business goals.

Part of that is making sure we offer help in navigating changes to the business landscape. Last week saw the introduction of a big change – the much-discussed, Europe-wide new general data protection regulations (GDPR).

To help our members understand the new rules, we held a special GDPR for marketing seminar last week. We were delighted that Kirk Tudhope LLP, of solicitors Ledingham Chalmers, was able to present this for us.

The audience was made up of chamber members from a wide variety of businesses – from large firms to sole traders, across a wide range of industries, from construction and manufacturing to accommodation providers.

All of those who attended found the seminar useful and were reassured about what steps were needed to make their businesses GDPR-compliant.

Earlier in the day, Kirk also led his regular employment law update, which gives our members an overview of current and new legislation that affects employers and workers. These seminars are always useful and much appreciated by chamber members.

Lochaber Chamber of Commerce offers ongoing business support through regular seminars and from our new ChamberHR, ChamberTax and ChamberLegal member benefits, provided through the British Chambers of Commerce.

This new service gives unlimited free access to an expert advice line and a vast online library of practical business documents that can be downloaded and used by members.

If you’re not already a member, have a look at our website at www.lochaberchamber.co.uk to find out about how your business could benefit from being a part of the chamber. Or call us on 01397 715 765. We are a small, friendly team and we’d be delighted to hear from you.
