What a weekend!

I think that was the best Oban Live yet and one of the best weekends Oban itself has seen.

The sun, the music and the people ... it honestly doesn’t get much better than that.

Life feels a bit flat now but I’m sure there will be lots more coming up to keep us amused.

The Lorn Games are on the 24th of this month and entries are being taken for the craft tent (run by Oban SWI) so do have a wee look on their website to see if anything takes your fancy.

On Saturday, June 16, we have the launch of the community shares for The Rockfield Centre and on the 19th, in the Corran Halls, a pop-up fashion show by Friends of Oban Hospice, which I can highly recommend.

We have the cruise ship Variety Voyager in again on Tuesday on the second of 10 visits, which is brilliant. I believe it has already booked for next year because everyone likes it so much.

It really feels as if everything is moving in the right direction for Oban now. Our pavement areas are a huge success after all the inconvenience, and it is lovely to see so many using Stafford Street to enjoy the town. Also, our new pontoons have just added to the holiday feel – I love going for a walk to look at all the boats.

It’s now up to us as a town to make sure everyone who comes here receives a warm welcome and good service, and spreads the word about what a friendly and hospitable place Oban is. I’d love it if we became known as the friendly town as well as the Seafood Capital of Scotland – it’s not too much of a stretch as it is often commented on by visitors impressed by the welcome they receive.
