Well done to those behind Oban Live
Thousands of people flocked to Mossfield Stadium on Friday and Saturday for Oban Live… and they were treated to a brilliant weekend of musical entertainment.
The two-day celebration of principally Scots trad music was, of course, blessed with an outstanding weekend of weather.
But the music was the real star of the show, with a superb line-up of acts, the majority of them from the Highlands and Islands.
From young Kathleen Robertson, who opened the event having won The Oban Times’s Oban Unsigned competition, to the amazing climax with Skerryvore and Oban High School Pipe Band members, the whole festival was a resounding success.
What also makes Oban Live such an amazing concert is the wonderful atmosphere, with a great ambience and people of all ages coming together to celebrate Scots and Gaelic culture.
All this, however, does not just happen by accident. A huge amount of work goes into the organisation of such a mammoth undertaking.
And that aforementioned ambience is aided in no small measure by the emergency services and other onsite staff who keep everyone safe and supplied with food and refreshments.
The organisers deserve the highest of praise for their efforts and they will now take a very well-deserved break before beginning the planning of next year’s Oban Live.
We can’t wait!
