Oban man jailed for police threats

-

An Oban man was given a 10-month jail sentence for throwing a glass and threatening police officers.

Karl Boulger of 2H Scalpay Terrace, Oban, pleaded guilty to throwing a glass and refusing to leave a licensed premises, uttering threats of violence to police officers, and spitting at one.

The 24-year-old was sentenced to six months in prison for this incident, and a further four months for an outstanding community payback order.

Sheriff Patrick Hughes said: ‘This was a serious crime – one that could have left people badly injured. The threats you were making to the police officers and their children were appalling. I don’t think a community payback order can give the public protection.’

Sheriff Hughes sentenced Boulger to 10 months in jail, backdated to August 13.
