Fara to play Céol Cho­lasa

All fe­male Scot­tish out­fit Fara, nom­i­nated for 2017’s BBC Ra­dio 2 Folk Awards’ Hori­zon Award, will play Céol Cho­lasa this week­end.

Bring­ing to­gether four lead­ing mu­si­cians at the fore­front of to­day’s Scot­tish folk scene, Fara’s line-up in­cludes Jen­nifer Austin, Kris­tan Har­vey, Jeana Les­lie and Ca­tri­ona Price.

With three fid­dles and a pi­ano, this fear­some quar­tet pro­duce a fiery sound rooted in the mu­sic of Orkney.

Show­cas­ing mu­sic from their up­com­ing al­bum, Times from Times Fall, the group have a host of new ma­te­rial – in­clud­ing a mix­ture of self-penned and tra­di­tional Orkney tunes as well as stun­ning vo­cals, the young women’s com­bined mu­si­cal­ity and friend­ship pro­duce an ex­hil­a­rat­ing and in­di­vid­ual sound.

Fara will play Céol Cho­lasa to­mor­row, Fri­day Septem­ber 14, and Satur­day, Septem­ber 15. This year’s line-up also in­cludes The Young’uns, Tide Lines, Jar­lath Hen­der­son Band, Hamish Napier and Innes Wat­son, Caitlin McNeill Ceilidh Band, Whyte, Cara, and He­cla.
