Impressive start to the season for Oban Lorne youth teams

-

Oban Lorne’s U16 and U18 sides kicked off their West Regional League Campaigns last weekend as they both welcomed Strathaven RFC to Glencruitten.

The U18s fielded a strong squad on Saturday aided by players from Lochaber RFC to take an impressive 26-0 win. Unfortunately the game was abandoned 15 minutes early due to an injury to a Strathaven player who was taken to A&E. Everyone at Oban Lorne wishes the player a speedy recovery.

On Sunday the U16s also welcomed Strathaven for their league opener. Oban ran out 45-31 winners an a very entertaining and open game of rugby.

Impressive for Oban were backs Blair MacFarlane and Ellis Hunter along with forwards Kenni Gray and Oran Charlton. The team also boasted three players from Isle of Mull RFC who all started in the fixture.

This weekend both teams make the long trip south to Castle Douglas as they take on Stewartry RFC. This is the first of a few long away trips with Ardrossan and Newton Stewart RFC also taking part in the West League.
