Mid Ar­gyll host mini rugby fes­ti­val

Mid Ar­gyll RFC hosted the sec­ond Ar­gyll and Bute Dal­ri­ada Mini Rugby Fes­ti­val of the sea­son at the Rope­work Park in Lochgilp­head on Satur­day.

Teams from Oban Lorne, Etive Vik­ings, Lochaber along with hosts Mid Ar­gyll at­tended the event with games be­ing played at P4/5 and P6/7 age level.

Teams were look­ing to build on a good start to the sea­son af­ter the pre­vi­ous week­end’s fes­ti­val at Isle of Mull RFC.

Scores from Mid Ar­gyll’s Dal­ri­ada were; P4/5 - Oban Lorne 6-8 Etive Vik­ings, Etive Vik­ings 6-4 Mid Ar­gyll, Mid Ar­gyll 7-4 Oban Lorne;

P6/7 - Etive Vik­ings 7-2 Lochaber, Mid Ar­gyll 1-2 Oban Lorne, Oban Lorne 7-3 Lochaber, Etive Vik­ings 5-0 Mid Ar­gyll, Oban Lorne 1-4 Etive Vik­ings, Mid Ar­gyll 6-6 Lochaber.


All teams put on a fan­tas­tic dis­play of open and en­ter­tain­ing rugby that was en­hanced by the in­tro­duc­tion of Scot­tish Rugby’s Age Grade Law Tri­als that clubs around the coun­try will be us­ing this sea­son to im­prove the qual­ity and in­crease the de­vel­op­ment of young play­ers in the game.

As usual Mid Ar­gyll put on a great show with some fan­tas­tic hospi­tal­ity. The next Dal­ri­ada fes­ti­val for mini rugby clubs is hosted by Etive Vik­ings RFC in Taynuilt on Sun­day Septem­ber 30.

Along with the mini fes­ti­val, Mid Ar­gyll also hosted Is­lay, Lochaber and Oban Lorne for 10-aside games at U14 age level. Mid Ar­gyll won all three of their fix­tures run­ning in 28 tries in the process.
