Point and Sandwick Trust shortlisted in social enterprise awards
Community wind farm charity Point and Sandwick Trust has been shortlisted for three more accolades.
The trust, which operates the UK’s biggest community wind farm at Beinn Ghrideag just outside Stornoway, has been listed as a finalist in the Scottish and UK Social Enterprise Awards for operating a commercial business for social good.
The Scottish awards recognise organisations for their business excellence and contribution to society through innovation, impact and success in social enterprise.
The trust has been shortlisted for Social Enterprise of the Year and Environmental Social Enterprise of the Year.
It also made the UK shortlist for Social Enterprise of the Year.
Calum MacDonald, who developed the three-turbine project for Point and Sandwick Trust, said: ‘We’re a new hybrid type of company, combining commercial discipline with social and charitable purpose.’ Winners will be announced at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh on Tuesday November 6.
The UK awards final will be held in Guildhall, London, on Wednesday November 28.
