Taking issue with remarks over etiquette

-

I feel I must take issue with Chris James’ (The Oban Times, September 6) remarks that the campaign manager for the Liberal Democrats had every right to be angry and abusive due to Ian Blackford’s alleged breach of etiquette.

As far as I am aware etiquette is the customary code of polite behaviour in society or among members of a particular profession or group.

To suggest the campaign manager’s alleged angry and aggressive manner be condoned or excused is, I would contend, totally against good manners and etiquette.

Surely any normal person would have civilly greeted Mr Blackford and pointed out that it was customary to follow the etiquette, explaining what that was, nevertheless thanking him for his good wishes and passed them on to Mr Kennedy.

Therefore I am afraid Chris James has been hoisted by his own petard on this one. James Waugh,
