STRONTIAN

-

The first Sunart Water Festival takes place this Sunday, September 16.

The event, based in Strontian, will see activity instructors leading a day packed with paddle boarding, raft racing, kayaking and children’s beach activities.

Marine biologist Mark Woombs will be running the ‘try snorkelling’ sessions, while Karl Bungey will be organising guided sea kayaking tours of Loch Sunart.

Highland Open Water Swim will host a one-mile swim in Strontian on Loch Sunart for adults and children. Parents do not have to swim, but must be at the event. Anyone who wants to take part must register online before the swim.

This is a great opportunity for a day out with all the family and to help raise money for Children With Cancer UK.

The main aim of the festival is to increase awareness of Loch Sunart, promote safety around the water, promote education and marine biology, and to teach activities and sports.
