Currie robbed of Scottish rally title
Mull Rally driver, Alasdair Currie was robbed of his Scottish Rally Championship hopes after a mechanical failure forced him and Oban’s Grant MacNiven to retire after one stage of last weekend’s Galloway Hills Rally.
The Argyll pair have showed consistent and dominating speed throughout the year which left them with an advantage heading into the Castle Douglas-based event. Currie led four separate classes after a troublesome season but the team were unforgivably robbed of their hard work when the suspension collapsed on the Ford Fiesta ST whilst driving to the start line of Stage 2.
The Scottish Rally Championship is made up of six events and the best five scores count to the competitors’ overall points table. Currie and MacNiven suffered from three retirements, but nevertheless won the three events they finished.
