Lochaber ladies raise more than £4,000 for Marie Curie
More than 100 Lochaber ladies dressed up and enjoyed a two-course lunch and music at Ben Nevis Distillery and Visitor Centre on Saturday September 8, raising £4,480 in the process.
The Marie Curie Lochaber Fundraising Group has been working tirelessly for months to raise money for the cancer charity and Saturday’s event was the culmination of all their hard work.
After a tour of the distillery and a glass of Prosecco, kindly donated by Morrisons Fort William, host Kim Kennedy introduced local Marie Curie nurse Andrea Cameron who movingly explained the work Marie Curie do supporting families with end of life care.
Lunch was then served and throughout the afternoon Kim kept everyone up to date with the silent auction bids and introduced Charles Cran-Crombie, who entertained with brilliant songs.
There was the chance to round the day off with a taste of the distillery’s whisky.
Organiser Joan MacKintosh said: ‘The group is grateful to HW Energy, Sheil Buses and Corrie Construction, which sponsored the event, and to all the staff at Ben Nevis Distillery and Visitor Centre who laid on a tasty meal in a beautiful venue.’
