Shooglenifty, the ‘acid croft’ band with Uist connections, is among the latest to show support for Uist Wind.

The community share offer which aims to reach at least £350,000 has now reached £260,000, 75 per cent of its target.

‘North Uist Development Company (NUDC) is fortunate we are able to extend the deadline for completing the share offer,’ explained NUDC chairperson Mustapha Hocine. ‘So please consider making an investment. Although £350,000 is our minimum and is now in sight, the more we raise, the more profitable this project will be for our community.

‘Although much of the investment so far has come from the local community – and it is great to see that Uist is getting behind this project – you don’t have to be local to invest.’

The North Uist Renewable Energy Project aims to raise £2.3 million over 22 years for development projects on the island.
