Last week saw around 20 members from a variety of industries enjoy a great networking lunch and site tour at Marine Harvest’s processing plant at Blar Mhor, Fort William.

Marine Harvest is a long-standing and very involved member of Lochaber Chamber of Commerce. We were delighted that the company agreed to host us for a networking lunch, which proved extremely popular with members.

Ian Roberts, the director of communications at Marine Harvest Scotland, moved to Lochaber from Marine Harvest in Canada to take up his new post earlier this year. Ian gave chamber members an enlightening presentation about the value of salmon as a healthy, resource-efficient food and shed a light on the scale and scope of Scotland’s salmon production in a global context.

After a delicious salmon-based lunch, the attendees donned their protective hygiene wear to follow senior production staff on a tour of the processing plant.
