Teenage runner conquers Ben Nevis five times in 24 hours

Junior West Highland Wheelers enjoyed a stellar weekend of downhill racing at the end of last month as the club’s youth ranks continue to blossom.

The young Wheelers were involved in two races at the end of September: a dirt crit race at Grantown for the third race in the Scottish Cycling North Series on Saturday September 29.

Kai Tresidder took third place in the under 6s and Jethro Murray took fourth. Aaron Tresidder got a fifthplace finish in the under 8s and Alexander Pervan was competing in under 12s, although the result of this race has not yet been confirmed.

On Sunday September 30, 15 Lochaber youngsters were competing in the fifth and final round of the Highland Hardline at Laggan Wolftrax.

This is a new youth downhill series consisting of five races set up by folk from around Inverness and Black Isle.

West Highland Wheelers results from Highland Hardline: Under 10 boys - 3 Alan Cameron (514); 4 Jack Bamber (509); 9 Kyler Macleod (507); 12 Aidan Baltrunas (518).

Under 12 boys - 1 Archie Ferguson (524); 3 Daniel Parfitt (527); 7 Logan Mclellan (537); 8 Cole Jackson (531); 10 Sorley Swabey (543).

Under 14 boys - 10 Cory Muir (552); 19 Campbell Mackintosh (559).

Under 14 girls - 4 Nina Cameron (547).

Under 16 boys - 1 Evan MacDonalad (582); 4 Fraser Clark (577); 16 Euan Harley (588).

This was the final race in the series and the Wheelers had five youngsters on the overall series podiums with Evan MacDonald (under 16) and Archie Ferguson (under 12) both winning their respective age categories.

Kyler Macleod finished second overall in the under 10s and Jack Bamber (under 10) and Daniel Parfitt (under 12) both got third places in the series.
