Fine for debt agency bomb threat

-

A Benderloch man has been fined £650 for threatening to petrol bomb a debt collection agency.

David Huddart, of Caravan No.43, Tralee Bay Caravan Park, Benderloch, pleaded guilty to making a telephone call that was grossly offensive, or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character, to an official at the collection agent Walker Love Sheriff Officers on July 25, 2018. The 43-yearold admitted acting in an aggressive or intimidating manner and uttering threats of violence, in intimating he would petrol bomb the office.

‘He was getting passed from pillar to post,’ Huddart’s defence agent Edward Thornton told Oban Sheriff Court on Tuesday October October 9.

‘It was an empty threat after an afternoon of frustration which led to the unfortunate comment. He moved to this area to start a new life.’

Sheriff John Herald told Huddart: ‘You lost your temper. For somebody with your record, that is the last thing you should do.

‘The only thing saving you is that you have been out of trouble for the past 18 months and have been in full-time employment.’
