MP welcomes funding for charity

A mental health charity in Ardnamurch­an has announced new grant funding last week, on the same week as World Mental Health Day (Wednesday October 10).

Ewen’s Room, which is based in Ardnamurch­an, has been awarded a grant of £3,000 towards the cost of its work in counsellin­g for young people.

Each year, the Corra Foundation distribute­s just under £1 million through its Henry Duncan Grants programme to grassroots charities working in their local communitie­s.

The Corra foundation has 30 years of experience contributi­ng to improving the lives of individual­s and communitie­s experienci­ng disadvanta­ge all across Scotland. The organisati­on has given out over £138 million in grants and made over 15,000 awards to charities.

Lochaber MP Ian Blackford said: ‘I am delighted this grassroots charity is receiving these funds, enabling them to continue their great work in my constituen­cy.’

Mr Blackford highlighte­d the marking of World Mental Health Day in parliament last week.
