CRIANLARICH

-

Following four burst pipes in four months at Crianlarich, MSP Bruce Crawford wrote to Scottish Water to ask what action would be taken to bring about a permanent solution.

Scottish Water has since responded, notifying Mr Crawford that investigation works are to be carried out with a view to improving the system.

It said: ‘We appreciate the inconvenience of these bursts and are committed to undertaking improvements to the water network to reduce the chance of interruption to our customers’ supplies. I can confirm these improvements are a priority and a solution is currently being developed through our engineering design process.

‘I can advise that we have engaged with a contractor and will be writing to the community in the coming weeks to advise of site investigation works which will be undertaken to enable detailed design of the project.

‘Site investigation works will involve trial holes being dug to establish ground conditions and to locate underground utility services. Once these investigations are complete, detailed design can be carried out and we will be able to advise on a start date for the works. We are exploring any opportunities to start as soon as possible.’

Mr Crawford said: ‘I am pleased this appears to have been taken seriously and that Scottish Water have listened to calls for a permanent solution to the problem.’
