LOCHALSH & WESTER ROSS
Nomination packs for prospective candidates for the Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh ward by-election are now available from Highland Council’s website.
The by-election is being held following the resignation of Councillor
Kate Stephen (Scottish Liberal Democrats), who was one of four Highland councillors representing ward five.
The other ward members are councillors Biz Campbell (Independent), Ian Cockburn (Scottish National Party) and Derek MacLeod (Scottish Conservative and Unionist).
The closing date for nominations is 4pm on Friday November 2. Nomination forms should be delivered to Robbie Bain, depute returning officer, The Highland Council, Room 106, Council Offices, High Street, Dingwall, IV15 9QN.
If the seat is contested, voting will take place on Thursday December 6 with the count taking place within the ward on the following day.
Anyone eligible to vote can do so in person on the day or apply for either a postal vote or to vote by proxy. The latest time to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Tuesday
November 20 and the deadline for anyone wishing to apply to vote by proxy is Tuesday November 27. Advice on postal and proxy voting is available by contacting the Electoral Registration Office on 0800 393 783.
