The Oban Times

It is all go as fireworks show looms

- KAY MCDONALD editor@obantimes.co.uk

What a hectic month October has been ... I would say thank goodness it is November but I think it may prove to be just as busy.

Ginfall in the Corran Halls was fabulous and everyone I’ve spoken to seems to agree.

And we have another gin event to look forward to on the same day as the Reindeer Parade, Saturday November 17, which is giving me a dilemma.

Can I combine an afternoon in The View sampling gin with helping the Oban and Lorn Lions at the Reindeer Parade? We’ll just have to wait and see.

I have another dilemma this evening, Thursday November 1, with two quizzes on the same night; like buses, you wait ages and they all come at once.

In the Royal Hotel this evening is a quiz for the Oban High School Pipe Band, which is amazing, and in the Oban Inn is a quiz with the indomitable Craig Munro, who has been hosting quizzes in the Oban area for about 30 years, give or take a few.

If you’re more musically minded, this evening sees Mike Denver in the Corran Halls.

On Saturday we have the first of the Holly Teas in aid of the MS Therapy Centre and a pop-up art sale in The Rockfield Centre in aid of Motor Neurone Disease, so it’s going to be another busy weekend.

Next week, of course, we have our Oban annual fireworks spectacular which will be fabulous this year.

I’m really looking forward to it this year and to a wee visit to the stalls in Station Square for something to eat while I’m watching from my favourite spot, which I’m not sharing in case everyone turns up and there’s no room for me. I have my fingers crossed that the weather will be kind to us.

Last week’s photo is of the TSB bank and for this week you need to take a wee walk and figure out where I took this photograph from.
