Families sure to have magical time at Oban’s Winter Festival

-

Enchanted woodlands, an igloo, plus a dragon and her eggs, a magician and hot chocolate and toasted mallows are just some of the exciting things lined up for families to enjoy at Glencruitten during the Oban Winter Festival 2018.

For three nights, the woods at Glencruitten will be transformed into an illuminated backdrop for all kinds of magic and adventure planned by the Oban Winter Festival to delight children on November 23-25 during the festival.

While organisers do not want to give away all the thrills in store for families, it is safe to say that if they go into the woods then they will have a great evening out that children will remember for years to come.

The woods will be open from 5-7pm and access will be via a shuttle minibus from Oban town centre.

Once at the woods the events will take around oneand-a-half hours to enjoy before heading back to town on the minibus.

While there the children will help the dragon find her lost eggs, encounter forest creatures and characters, a magician and storytellers and join in the story themselves... to say more would be to give away some of the surprises, but do not be too surprised if it involves a wee igloo.

The advice is to dress appropriately for the weather and with sensible footwear.

The winter festival also has a larger igloo – this one will be at Mossfield and full of great music and entertainment. But more about that next week.

And another announcement for all snow boarders: there will be a snowboarding simulator at the festival; the first weekend it will be at Atlantis Leisure and the second in the town centre.

The printed programme for the winter festival will soon be available and traders are reminded to let the organisers know their final details for late night opening and special offers.

Entry forms for the festival competitions are available via the website and West Coast Motors office in Oban, Queen’s Park Place.
