A time to reflect on the greatest sacrifice
This Sunday sees the 100th anniversary of the guns falling silent at the cessation of the First World War.
As we report today, there are many dedications, services and ceremonies planned across Oban and Argyll, an area whose sons were among the many who fought and died in the horrific conflict.
This year’s commemorations are given added poignancy as it is the centenary of the Armistice.
We would encourage everyone to fall silent at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month as a mark of respect to all those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
