Navigate the Blood – Noise Opera with Admiral Fallow is at Oban Distillery tonight (Thursday November 8) at 7.30pm.

Noise (New Opera in Scotland Events) presents a new opera, Navigate the Blood, by indie folk-rock band Admiral Fallow and Gareth Williams. The opera is set in the world of whisky and gin manufactur­ing and will be touring distilleri­es throughout Scotland until November 24.

Navigate the Blood follows the story of Bob and Lena, a husband and wife running a small independen­t distillery in rural Scotland. Their son Liam disappeare­d in mysterious circumstan­ces three years ago.

Living and working with them is a young Polish woman named Agata. She wants to modernise the distillery by making gin as well as whisky. Into this situation comes Elijah, a young man with a strange, other-worldly presence. Elijah looks and moves very like the lost boy …

The Kapten Piano Trio are performing in St John’s Cathedral in Oban next Sunday, November 18, at 3pm.

The Kapten Piano Trio will play Beethoven’s Piano Trio in B flat, Op 11 Gassenhaue­r; Debussy’s Piano Trio in G major; Christos Hatzis’s Old Photograph­s (2008); and Mendelssoh­n’s Piano Trio No 1 in D minor, Op. 49

Tickets will be £10 to non-members at the door.

Lorn Chorus – A Little Night Music is a musical evening presented by the Lorn Chorus Friday November 16 at 7.30pm at St John’s Cathedral.

Admission is by donation, with proceeds shared by Marie Curie and St John’s Cathedral.
