FORT WILLIAM

-

Sunday November 11 will see the annual staging of the Remembrance Day parade in Fort William, with this year’s event given added poignancy as it comes on the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.

Units will form up in Viewforth car park at 10.30am, with the March on the Colours at 10.39am, and halting in front of the Royal British Legion Scotland premises.

The parade will march off, led by Lochaber Schools Pipe Band, at 10.40am and make its way to the town’s war memorial.

At 10.52am there will be a roll call of the local fallen from the First and Second World Wars, followed by the playing of The Last Post and then at 11am a two-minute silence.

This will be followed by reveille and a pipe lament. There will then be a reading and reflection given by a minister, after which will be the laying of wreaths and a church service.
