Five goal Forres beat the Fort
Forres Mechanics Fort William 5 0
Highland League Fort William slumped to a five-goal defeat in their midweek fixture away to thirdplaced Forres Mechanics last Wednesday night.
The visitors fielded a strong starting line-up, including a six-man bench, as they looked to pick up some points in Forres. However, the Can Cans were quick to extinguish any hopes of a Fort William upset as Allan Macphee opened the scoring for the hosts after just four minutes.
Liam Taylor then got a quick-fire brace in the 15th and 18th minute to make it a three-goal advantage for the home side. The Fort held out for the remainder of the first half and started the second half brightly.
However, Forres midfielder Andy Macrae made it 4-0 just after the hour mark. Less than 10 minutes later Macrae made it 5-0 with his second of the match and secured a comfortable victory for the Can Cans.
Fort William were due to be in action on Saturday but their match against Huntly at Claggan park was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
The Fort were to play Clachnacuddin last night (Wednesday) at Claggan Park but the match took place after the Lochaber Times went to print.
This Saturday they travel to second-placed Fraserburgh for another Highland League encounter.
