Friends of Oban Hospice raised more than £1,500 for the town’s Dove Centre at its annual flower arranging demonstration at the Argyllshire Gathering Halls on Sunday November 18.

The event was co-ordinated by long-standing committee member Kathleen Black who, as usual, had everything down to a ‘T’.

The demonstration was by Sandra Halkett, from Elgin, who captivated the capacity audience with her artistry and storytelling. Sandra’s end products were stunning and were raffled at the end of the event.

The crowd also enjoyed afternoon tea, sandwiches and home-baking, donated by committee members and their friends and families.

In his vote of thanks, chairman Iain MacIntyre, in addition to complementing Sandra on her professional and entertaining demonstration, paid tribute to his hard-working committee and the generosity of the local community in supporting the hospice movement.
