Oban parties as fireworks signal explosive start to 2019

Oban saw in the new year in fine style last week with a spectacula­r fireworks display over McCaig’s Tower.

Hundreds of people turned out to watch the pyrotechni­cs as 2019 arrived.

Pubs and hotels in the town were packed with revellers who celebrated into the early hours.

Among the Hogmanay parties was a ceilidh in the Royal Hotel, with the Hector McFadyen Band entertaini­ng into the small hours.
