❚ A hotel on the banks of Loch Long in Argyll and Bute has been recognised at a prestigious tourism awards ceremony.

Knockderry House in Cove was awarded the Best Eating Experience accolade, sponsored by Caledonian MacBrayne, at the Scottish Thistle Awards’ regional west finals at Oran Mor, Glasgow.

The 15-bedroom hotel and restaurant was praised by judges for its focus on food provenance and for offering a ‘very warm, welcoming and authentic quality Scottish experience’ for guests. The business was also commended for its collaboration with local businesses, including Cruise Loch Lomond and Glengoyne Distillery.

❚ A selection of popular camping and glamping sites across the UK have picked up prizes in the 2018 Campsites. co.uk camping and glamping awards, announced last month.

Popular choice award in Scotland 2018 (winner) went to Loch Lomond Holiday Park in Tarbet.

❚ Best Western has announced the addition of The Inveraray Inn to its portfolio of more than 260 independent hotels.

The property overlooks Loch Fyne from the main street in Inveraray, making it the perfect base to explore this part of the country. Opened in 1755, the hotel is the oldest in Inveraray.
