Alleycats still ahead of scratch division

During week 14 of the Lochaber Building Supplies tenpin bowling leagues at the Nevis Centre in Fort William there were a lot of high scores and season highs.

Alleycats continue to lead the scratch division with 64 points despite dropping two of the possible five points to British Legion Fort William. Council are in second place with 58 points and The Empire in third place with 52 points. In the handicap division Alleycats continue to lead with 53 points, but have had their lead cut after also dropping two handicap points to British Legion Fort William. The Empire are now closer in second place with 52 points followed by Council with 47 points.

There were a lot of good individual scratch games this week with the best coming from Pam Weller (Alleycats) with the season high of 210. Also this week Iain Gregor (British Legion Fort William) had a 198, Brian Stewart (The Empire) had a 194, Brian Johnstone (Alleycats) also had a 194, Gary Cowan (The Empire) had a 191, Andrew Brown (The Empire) had a 188, Bill Clark (Council) had a 179 and a 170, Tony Whitelocke (Alleycats) also had a 179, Ron Gretton (Retrovator­s) had a 174 and James Porter (British Legion Fort William) had a 172. Elsewhere, Pam Weller had the top handicap game of 253, while Bill Clark also had the top two-game scratch series with 349 and Simon Hardiman (Rotavators) had the top two-game handicap series with 463.

There was also a spate of good team scores this week, with Alleycats rolling the top scratch game of 702 (the season high), the top two-game scratch series of 1317 also the season high and the top two-game handicap series of 1607, while The Empire had the season high handicap game of 903.

The top scratch averages are currently held by Brian Johnstone on 160, followed by Pam Weller on 148, with Brian Stewart on 145.
