Ben Inverveigh, Bridge of Orchy A small shapely hill, seen to advantage from the A82 N of Bridge of Orchy, makes an interesting walk with great views of its bigger neighbours.

Park next to the Bridge of Orchy Hotel at NN297395. Cross the river behind the hotel and follow the WHW to its high point at Mam Carraigh.

Turn south and head up the hillside, gently at first then more steeply to a small summit at 546m. Continue along the ridge to the summit of Ben Inverveigh at 639m.

Descend by the outward route (easy but longer) or alternatively, head SE steeply down the recently cleared area of forest to the track. Follow this NE back to Bridge of Orchy (shorter but rough going initially, with a fence to cross).

Distance: 12km or 10km; height to climb: 490m; map(s): LR50, EX377. Meet at Longsdale car park, Oban, at 8.55am or Glencoe village car park at 9.25am for start of walk at 10am. Leader: Gerry Gilbert 07765 830203. Thursday February 28: Creag Tharsuinn and Carn Dearg, Glen Roy A walk in upper Glen Roy, with a grand perspective on its ‘parallel roads’, and a gradual climb up beside the Burn of Agie past a series of waterfalls. It leads back over the rocky Creag Tharsuinn and the Corbett Carn Dearg.

Start 400m SW of Brae Roy Lodge at NN333911, where off-road parking is available. Head NE past Glen Roy Lodge, turning E over the Turret Bridge. After 400m, cross the bridge over the River Roy and continue on the track to Annat. Beyond here the track dwindles to a path, crosses the Canal Burn and climbs gradually E over the slopes of Torr a’ Sonn, curving S to converge with the Burn of Agie. When the path crosses the burn, stay on the W side and follow the burn up past the Dog Falls and a confluence for 1.2Km. At NN377891 leave the burn and climb SW to the summit of Creag Tharsuinn, 719m. Descend WSW to a ring contour on a spur, 675m turning NW down across the col and past three lochans.

Continue NW up easy slopes, curving SW to the summit of Carn Dearg, 834m. Descend NW then up Carn Bhrunachain. Head down WNW at first for 700m until beyond the head of a narrow wooded valley.

Turn NE and descend the indistinct ridge on its W side to reach the Allt na Reinich. Follow the burn to the floor of the glen and cross the River Roy on the bridge at NN330909. Turn NE on the road back to the start.

Distance: 14km; height to climb: 670m; map(s): LR34, EX400. Meet at Fort William WM at 8.45am for start of walk at 9.30am. Leader: Andrew Gilbert 07808 924722. Saturday February 23: Beinn Resipol, Loch Sunart Its isolated position makes Beinn Resipol a fine viewpoint for the West Highland coast and islands.

This route covers some more of the high ground to the S of the Corbett rather than taking the usual direct descent.

Start opposite the Ben View Hotel on the public minor road at Ardnastang, NM800615. Head NE up the road, which soon becomes a track and then a footpath. Turn left onto the old miners’ track at NM813633 and follow it up NW to its highest point at NM797652. Head W from here to gain the E ridge of Beinn Resipol and follow this to the summit, 845m.

Descend SW to the outflow from Lochan Bac an Lochain and head south across undulating ground to Beinn an Albannaich, 572m.

Descend SE to a col at 391m and then SW to Ardery. Follow the track to the main road. Transport required at NM754616, seven mins from start.

Distance: 14km; height to climb: 911m. Suggested by Jane Ollerenshaw; coordinated by Chris Tracey.
