Mary’s Meals lands £30,000 cash windfall
A kind-hearted landlord has given a major donation to Dalmally-based charity Mary’s Meals, which will help transform the lives of hungry children.
Ian Paver, who manages the building of the Argyll-based charity’s Oban shop, donated £30,000 to Mary’s Meals following the passing of his mother Catherine Kinloch Paver, founder of the Pavers shoe company.
Ian, 55, who made the donation on behalf of the Paver Foundation, will see his incredible gift go even further during the charity’s Double The Love campaign.
Until March 1, 2019, public donations to Mary’s Meals’ Double The Love campaign will be matched by the UK government, up to £2 million, helping to provide life-changing daily school meals to impoverished children in Zambia.
Ian, from York, said: ‘After my mum’s passing, I was given some money to donate to charity and Mary’s Meals is a charity I really believe
in. My mum built the Pavers business from nothing into what it is now, so it’s great that her work will also help impoverished children.
‘It’s a great way to help celebrate my mum’s life too, as she was from Scotland, where Mary’s Meals started.
‘The Double The Love campaign is great because you know that your donation will go even further, helping even more children through Mary’s Meals.’
Mary’s Meals currently provides life-changing daily school meals to more than 1.4 million children in 18 countries around the world.
It costs just £13.90 to feed a child for an entire school year through Mary’s Meals.
