Drama on Luing generates fantastic feedback

-

The show went on for Luing Amateur Dramatic Society last weekend after having to deal with a power cut prior to the final performance.

Never-the-less Don’t get your Vicars in a Twist was well received by the sell-out audiences over Friday night and Saturday last week.

Having hosted a matinee in the afternoon, Cullipool Village Hall was plunged into darkness just before the Saturday night performance when many of the audience were already seated.

Not to be deterred the curtains were opened and the battery candle lights of the stage wall candlelabras in the vicarage hallway were turned on.

Plans were hastily made to borrow a generator, enabling the show to go on until the power eventually came back on.

Director Hazel Cruickshanks said the actors and backstage crew had smashed it. And that she had enjoyed every moment, apart from the power cut.

Comments from the capacity crowd included:

‘Absolutely brilliant! Such a great night’s entertainment. Huge thanks to everyone.’

‘What absolutely brilliant fun.’

‘Epic.’

‘What a brilliant show. Well done everyone.’

Written by Ann Gawthorpe and Lesley Bown ‘Vicars’ was a fast-moving farce full of fun, frolics and lots of doors.
