Mum of Bonnie Babies 2018 winner says ‘go for it!’
When he was named winner of last year’s Oban Times Bonnie Babies competition, Kai Duncan Laverty of Fort William proved a star performer in front of the camera.
A year later and getting set to celebrate his second birthday next week, it seems his love of the limelight is as infectious as ever.
With just a few days remaining until the deadline for entries for this year’s Bonnie Babies competition, our photographer Iain Ferguson popped along to the Caol home Kai and his siblings share with dad and mum, Kenny and Linda Laverty, to see how the toddler was getting on after his brush with fame last year.
Linda said this week: ‘We all really enjoyed the competition last year – it was great fun. Kai certainly enjoyed all the attention, with people even pointing to him and saying, ‘there’s the Bonnie Baby winner!’.’
Linda and Kenny received a cheque for £500, some of which went on a trampoline and slide for Kai, his brothers, Connor, Kyle, Aaron, and sister Shannon to enjoy.
Linda added: ‘I’d certainly urge parents to enter their babies. It was a great experience that the whole family enjoyed.’
Kai won the competition after scooping more than 800 votes, with more than 150 gorgeous babies entered from across the Lochaber Times and Oban Times circulation areas.
The deadline for this year’s competition is noon on Monday, March 25. (Full competition details at www.obantimes.co.uk/ bonniebabies
