Thursday April 4: Spean Bridge to Monessie, Glen Spean

This walk will now start at Spean Bridge and finish at Monessie circa 3pm. Gentle walk beside River Spean through deciduous woods with good views of the Grey Corries.

Start 10am at NN112742 Spean Bridge Woollen Mill car park.

Two short footpath/grassy meadow deviations between Spean and Coirechill­ie road end ... just for interest. Continue on tarred road to Insh. Follow track parallel to the river to Monessie Farm, (track likely to be muddy through the farm). Cross footbridge. End at layby NN300 810 then very short road walk to Glenspean Lodge Hotel for tea/coffee/scone.

One car will have been already left at the terminal point for drivers to be taken to get their cars at Spean Bridge.

Sunday April 7: Beinn na Gucaig Inchree

Start at Inchree forest walks car park, NN029633. Take the path leading up NE for 200m and turn right along the forest road. At NN032630 a path off to the left leads up the hill to the summit of Beinn na Gucaig. From the summit head SE down the steep hillside to the start of a forest track at NN073646. Follow the track, overgrown and rough at first, along Gleann Righ, turning right on to the main forest road. At the signpost for the waterfall walk, NN033629, turn left and descend to the car park. Grade: M; distance: 13km; height to climb: 650m; Maps LR41 EX384 Meet at Inchree car park NN029633 at 1000. Start of walk: 1000. Leader: Ian Moir 07973 836498.

Sunday March 31: Glen Lochay – Meall Glas and Sgiath Chuil

An opportunit­y to climb one or both of these Munros by a less frequented but more interestin­g route.

Park at the end of the public road in Glen Lochay at NN465364. Follow the track W as far as Batavaime. Cross the river Lochay on a bridge and climb the N ridge of Meall Glas to its summit.

Head E on the summit ridge over the 908m spot height and NE to Beinn Cheathaich, 937m. An easy descent can be made from here down the N ridge to pick up a track down to Lubchurran.

E of here on stepping stones, and across the river Lochay on a footbridge to rejoin the outward route.)

To continue to Sgiath Chuil, descend E down to a bealach, Lairg a’ Churainex, 609m. Head NE on a rising traverse across the steep grassy slopes to reach the N spur of Meall a’ Churain, then turn S up to its summit, 917m. Continue S along the ridge to the summit of Sgiath Chuil, 921m. Return along the summit ridge and descend the N spur to a small summit, 577mex on a ring contour at NN461346.

Turn NNE and make for the pumping house at NN466354. Follow its access track down to the end of the public road.

Distance: 15km, 850m ascent; or 18km, 1200m ascent.
