Fort BBs hold prize-giving evening
The Duncansburgh MacIntosh Church of Scotland Guild and the 2nd Fort William Company of the Boys’ Brigade held a joint fun evening and prize-giving on Friday night.
The National Guild supports six projects over a three-year period, and the Fort William guild supports two each year, with it opting to support the BBs this year.
It was decided that as a way of marking this partnership, the guild and the BB would do something together, and so Friday’s event was arranged.
The evening was introduced by BB Captain Ian Fleming, and the opening worship was led by the chaplain Rev Richard Baxter.
The night consisted of a series of games and quizzes, followed by tea and cakes, and another set of games and quizzes. The games were organised by Joan and Hughie MacKintosh and the quizzes were organised by Capt Fleming.
Each table of at least six had a colour and at times it became really competitive. The games mainly involved trying to get ping-pong balls into various containers by various means – egg box trays, plastic cups, blowing them with straws and even using balloons too, all accompanied by much hilarity.
There was also a display of pyramids by the boys, showing their balancing skills. Once all the games were over, the boys fell in to a more formal pattern for the prize-giving.
Capt Fleming, Guild convener Pauline MacEachen and the minister all spoke about the evening, the guild and BB connection, and then the prizes were awarded.
After the prize-giving, there was closing worship and the evening drew to a close.
