Hallowe’en and fireworks fun!

-

Happy Hallowe’en everyone, I hope you’re all set with your apples and sweeties ready for the guisers.

I’m looking forward to hearing some bad jokes, I love the jokes the kids tell – some are the same as the ones I used to tell myself and

I still laugh at them. Next Tuesday is also one of my favourite events, the Oban Bay Fireworks Display.

I love fireworks when they’re part of an organised display and this one promises to be extra special. The thought of a burger from

Dougie Dan’s van in Station Square beforehand followed by a hot chocolate and cupcake from the Oban SWI stall, dinner followed by entertainment, is a perfect night out. Part of the entertainment will be provided by Oban FM with its new PA system and newly decorated trailer, which looks fantastic.

After Hallowe’en and the fireworks it’s time to look forward to the Winter Festival, which is looking superb from everything I’ve seen and heard so far. I especially enjoy the late night opening and usually manage to do a fair bit of my Christmas shopping, helped along by the odd mulled wine on offer.

It’s so good to have all this ahead of us at this time of year when it gets so cold and dark – it entices us to venture out when normally we’d stay by the fire. It’s much nicer to socialise and do things as a community, bringing people together and celebrating the seasons rather than dreading them.

The photograph last week was taken from outside Specsavers looking across the street. I didn’t venture too far for this week’s one.
