United Auctions, Oban, Tuesday October 29: sold 273 calves and 131 breeding cattle. Sixty-nine bullock calves sold to £590 for a 340kg LIMx from Stillaig Farm to average £438.33 (+£67.35) and to 236p/kg for 2, 178kg LIMx from 6 Blaich to average 179.24p/kg (+15p). Two hundred and four heifer calves sold to £840 for three, 278kg SIMx from Saulmore Farm to average £524.49 (-£2.46) and to 328p/kg for 2, SIMx from Scammadale Farm, to average 210.98p/kg (nc). Bulling heifers sold to £1,120 for a BRBx from South Achinduin. In-calf heifers sold to £1,800 for a SIMx from Mrs I MacColl, Mid Farm, Lismore. In-calf cows sold to £1,350 from Drumaglea, Tiree and heifers with calves at foot sold to £1,020 for a LIMx from Ellary Farms. Overall, quality bred stock sold well and to a strong force of buyers from across the country.
