Lochaber men in kilts help charity

-

Some of Lochaber’s best looking kilts, modelled by muscular local sportsmen, can grace people’s walls next year following the launch of the ‘Lochaber Men in Kilts 2020 Visions in Tartan’ charity calendar.

On sale for £5, the calendar was produced to raise funds for Lochaber Sensory Care, which helps people with hearing or sight difficulties and has regular outreach clinics in Ardnamurchan, Mallaig and Glencoe.

These will be greatly helped by money raised from the calendar. Everyone taking part in the cheerfully tongue-incheek calendar volunteered their services and print costs were covered by local businesses which generously sponsored each month so that all money from sales will go to the charity.

Helping to launch the calendar, ‘Mr January’ Alasdair Greens, who re-staged his photograph holding a calendar rather than glass of whisky in Ben Nevis Distillery, said: ‘It was a great laugh getting my picture taken and I was happy to take part for such a good cause. I would certainly do it again.’

Chairman of Lochaber Sensory Care, Iain Ferguson, who in his other role of professional photographer devised and shot the pictures, added: ‘The kilt wearers braved different weathers, mainly rain and cold, as the calendar was shot over several months to match the seasons.

‘I would like to thank everyone who took part for being so professional during the individual sessions. It was all very light-hearted but also quite intense to get just the right shot. The guys were all absolutely brilliant.’

Calendars can be bought from the Lochaber Sensory Care office at Caol Shopping Centre or from The Highland Bookshop in Fort William High Street.
