Have your say on Dunbeg proposal

- By Kathie Griffiths kgriffiths@obantimes.co.uk

People interested in what could be coming next as part of the major Dunbeg development plan are being invited to have their say at a public meeting tonight (November 14).

The meeting is the first of two being held by Link Group Ltd before more plans are put to Argyll and Bute Council.

The consultation session starts at Dunbeg Primary School at 4.15pm and runs until 8pm. The second meeting, on December 5, will run between the same times.

Listed under prospective mixed use are shops and services, a hotel, pub, takeaways, community facilities, a new primary school and a roundabout on the A85.

Both public events will include a presentation of the possible development with an opportunity for discussion.

Comments can also be sent to DM Hall, The Mill, Bridge of Allan, Stirling, FK9 4JS or email paul.houghton@dmhall. co.uk before December 19.

Comments sent in at this stage are not representations to planners – an opportunity to do that will happen only if Link Group Ltd goes ahead with submitting a formal planning application.

In January this year, The Oban Times reported that construction work on phase three of the Dunbeg Development Corridor Masterplan officially got off the ground with a sod-cutting event at the site, which will feature 600 new homes. The project, approved by Argyll and Bute Council in May 2017, is being supported by the Scottish Government with £35.5 million from the Affordable Housing Supply Programme.

The plan is to put Dunbeg on the map as a sought-after location, transforming that area into a family-orientated, vibrant and sustainable rural place.
