❚ The Leanachan Challenge cross-country running race for high school pupils takes place today (Thursday November 14). Open to all high schools. For more informatio­n, contact isabel@ bosslochab­er.co.uk.

❚ There will be a quiz night in the Railway Club, Inverlochy, tomorrow, Friday November 15, from 7pm. Teams of four or five (£10 entry). Raffle. Raising funds for Friends of Invernevis.

❚ The next Lochaber Music For All concert takes place in Kilmallie Community centre on Saturday November 16 at 7.30pm. The evening will see Scotland’s world-class saxophonis­t Tommy Smith and pianist Brian Kellock perform jazz standards.

❚ Lochaber Athletic Club’s annual general meeting will take place on Sunday November 17 at 7.30pm at Lochaber Yacht Club, Fort William. Everyone with an interest in athletics is encouraged to attend. It will be a great opportunit­y to discuss the sport, make suggestion­s and have your say on how the club is run. There will be opportunit­ies to join the committee. Refreshmen­ts and log fire.

❚ Friends of Nevis will hold its autumn Glen Nevis litter pick and curling ponds clearup on Sunday November

17. Meet at 10.30am at Ben Nevis Highland Centre, at the entrance to Glen Nevis, also known as the Woollen Mill Shop.

❚ Kilmallie Christmas tree lights will be switched on officially at 7pm on Friday November 22. The ceremony will be followed by tea, coffee and homebaking in the community centre. All welcome and remember to bring a torch.

❚ There will be a bird ringing event hosted by the Friends of Nevis at the Ben Nevis Visitor centre, from 9am to 3pm, on Sunday November 24.

❚ St Bride’s Primary School Christmas fair is on Thursday November 28, 7-9pm at the school. Usual stalls including raffle, homebaking and crafts.

❚ Songs of Praise in Kilmallie Free Church, 7pm, on Friday November 29. A social evening of singing and music. Everyone welcome.
