Lochaber Ideas Week is now an established fixture in our local events calendar, offering something a bit different and punching well above its weight in attracting top-class speakers and events.

Ideas Week started in 2013 and has continued to expand its reach, with a range of events every November.

The week of events is timed to be part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, a time when inspiring business events take place throughout the world.

But Lochaber Ideas Week isn’t just for those in business – our events are open to everyone who is interested, whether you want to motivate yourself for a challenge or explore your creativity in one of our training workshops, or add your voice to the local debate at Question Time. This is a week for the whole community and everyone is welcome. This year’s Question Time has moved from an afternoon to an evening slot on Tuesday November 19 to allow more of the community to come along and get involved.

With an election not far away, it’s the perfect opportunity to discuss the major issues affecting Lochaber.

The annual Charles Kennedy Lecture is always a popular event with the whole community, attracting a diverse audience to hear from a noted speaker on a personal topic of their choosing.

This is a non-political lecture and they always provide food for thought and reflection.

This year’s lecture delivered by Lord David Steel is now sold out, but if you’d like to go on the waiting list, just contact the office.

We always start the week with an inspirational speaker from the sporting world and this year’s talk from former shinty star Russell Jones will kick us off in style.

Russell traded in his shinty stick for a road bike and took to the road as an ultra long-distance extreme bike-packing racer.

Join us on Monday November 18 to find out just what it takes to complete a 4,267-mile race across the USA without any help.

There’s so much going on and everyone’s invited. We look forward to celebrating the power of ideas with you during Ideas Week.
