Manager confident of good cup game
Fort William Football Club welcome Fraserburgh to Claggan Park for this Saturday’s first round of the Highland League Cup and manager Russell MacMorran is anticipating a good game against a side currently sitting fourth in the table.
‘We are looking forward to our fixture against Fraserburgh this Saturday. In comparison to previous years, we have had a very good run in cup competitions this year, having reached the semi-finals of the North of Scotland Cup, not forgetting our recent Scottish Cup run, earning a replay at Claggan Park after drawing with second division side Albion Rovers at their home ground,’ Mr MacMorran told the Lochaber Times.
‘Fraserburgh are a good side that play quality football and we will give them the respect they require with their current position sitting fourth in the league.
‘That been said, we have improved in many ways since we met in August and, despite losing 6-3, we came away from the game with positives. Not many teams travel to the Broch and score three goals, with what was an inexperienced side.
‘I have a full squad to select from with the exception of
John Treasurer, who has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
‘The lads are all looking forward to the game as we haven’t been in action for two weeks. Claggan is looking in good condition again following the council’s emergency repair. I am sure Saturday will prove to be a great game.’
Last Saturday’s away match against Rothes had to be postponed because Mackessack Park was waterlogged.
Fort William v Fraserburgh at Claggan Park on Saturday November 16 kicks off at 3pm.
